State Street Survey: Institutions Plan to Double Digital Asset Exposure by 2028 Photo by: Morgan Davis
In a recent survey conducted by State Street and the CFA Institute, institutional investors signaled plans to significantly increase their exposure to Bitcoin and other digital assets over the next three years. The survey included more than 700 investment professionals across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Among respondents currently invested in digital assets, over 80% said they plan to increase their allocations by 2028. A majority of firms also indicated growing comfort with the operational and regulatory frameworks surrounding digital assets, citing infrastructure improvements and clearer compliance pathways as key factors.
Bitcoin was noted as the primary focus for many of these investors, though broader crypto exposure remains part of some portfolios. The report reflects a shift in institutional strategy, as digital assets move from speculative edge cases to longer-term allocation considerations.
While the pace and scale of adoption vary by region, the overall direction points toward a normalization of Bitcoin and digital assets within traditional portfolio management. This comes at a time when many institutions are reevaluating diversification strategies and long-term risk management in the face of evolving global market conditions. Moreover, the AR glasses incorporate advanced gesture and voice controls, enabling users to interact with digital content intuitively.
